Serving God and our neighbor...

First Evangelical Lutheran Church

First Lutheran is a special place. There are no strangers here, for all are welcome to share in the love of Christ and the fellowship of His people. First Lutheran is where life's most significant events take place: Holy Baptism, First Communion and Confirmation. The Order of Marriage. A Christian funeral. Hearing and accepting the Word of God.A mighty fortress is our God

This is a place of quiet dignity and peace. Yet, we are driven by the vibrant promise of the living God to reach out to the community through meaningful involvement.

First Lutheran is also an oasis in a troubled world. We offer a safe and caring environment for children and young people. There are many things to do here and many things to learn. There are opportunities to serve and you will find people from all walks of life to whom you can relate, united by the common bond of Christian faith.

A Center of Lifelong Learning

F E L C Youth

Christian education is a cornerstone of First Lutheran. We have an
obligation to know, understand, and appreciate God's plan so magnificently
revealed to us; to immerse ourselves in the teachings of Christ
and His apostles; to grasp the wonder of His promise of everlasting life.

From pre-school programs through confirmation classes to adult Bible
study, we offer numerous opportunities for families to grow in their
knowledge of our Christian faith and heritage.

Music to Lift Our Spirits

Hope Mehaffey

A wide range of instrumental music and song echoes in our
Church. Inspirational hymns of praise and thanksgiving are an
integral part of our worship services. Hymns both traditional and
contemporary strengthen our faith while they extol the mighty
works of God. In addition, concerts by visiting musicians, choirs
and orchestras are well attended and enjoyed by all.

Just a few hymn titles tell a powerful story.

Joy To The World, The Lord Is Come!
Brightest and Best of the Stars of the Morning.
My Song is Love Unknown.
O Sacred Head, Now Wounded.
Jesus Christ is Risen Today, Alleluia!
Alleluia! Sing to Jesus.
Come, Holy Ghost, God and Lord.
All Glory Be to God on High.
Crown Him With Many Crowns!

Stories to Tell and Gifts to Share

When Christians speak of "stewardship", what we mean is the responsible care of the things God has given us: our lives, our families, our jobs, our homes, our country, our world and ... yes ... our money!

Jesus often spoke about wealth. The Bible mentions giving at least 700 times, sacrifice 300 times, and money more than 100 times. Why? Because the most spiritual decisions we make in life are about how we choose to spend our time and our money.

At First Lutheran we know that everything in life belongs to God. Life itself is a gift! A gift from God. We are only stewards, custodians for a brief moment, of our time, our wealth, and our possessions. In the end we must return all to God.

Merciful Father, we offer with joy and thanksgiving what You have first given us: our selves, our time, and our possessions -- signs of Your gracious love. Receive them for the sake of Him who offered Himself for us, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

You are always welcome here and warmly invited to share in our life with Christ.
